2nd Annual BlueRidge Pkwy Ride And what better place to kick off the summer than THE GREAT SMOKEY MTNS.! A group of us went up last June and had a BLAST, so we've decided to do it again. Our friend, Anthony (aka antaprillia), will be at the helm of this little event, but it sounds like a lot of fun...so here are the particulars as I understand them today (we'll keep you posted of changes as they occur): When: June 20-21 (Fri. & Sat.), home on SundayWhere: Cherokee, NC Ride Schedule: Friday - short ride over to Gatlinburg after lunch Saturday - Blue Ridge Parkway & Maggie Valley 9:00-9:45 "Meet & Greet" @ Oconaluftee Visitor Center, Cherokee, NC 10:00 - Pull out and ride the Blue Ridge up to The Pisgah Inn for lunch www.pisgahinn.com . Then, on to Maggie Valley and The Wheels Through Time Museum. www.wheelthroughtime.com Saturday Night: maybe Harrah's Casino or a cookout (or be on your own) Lodging: Pioneer Motel www.pioneermotel.net US 41 South, Cherokee, NC 828-497-2435 The Pioneer has a motel and cottages and you can park right in front of your room. They also have a pool and pavillion where the group could have a cookout.....Check out my gallery on the BUSA site for some photos of last years ride for those of you who missed the fun! Of course there is plenty of other lodging in the area if you have preferences. |
